BayCity & IPSTAR
The BayCity & IPSTAR partnership brings New Zealanders the ultimate in broadband Internet.
IPSTAR is wholly owned by Shin Satellite Public Company Limited (SSA), Thailand, one of Asia's leading satellite operators. Since 2000, IPSTAR has been developing a new broadband satellite system that effectively delivers broadband solutions to residential and corporate consumers throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
SSA has funded its US technology partner in the development, design and patenting of IPSTAR's core technologies in the IPSTAR Broadband Satellite System. The IPSTAR concept was created out of the company's vision of enabling satellite technology to play an important role in the broadband internet/multimedia revolution and the coming convergence of information and communication technologies.
On March 13, 2007 IPSTAR New Zealand Limited announced that the Company had signed an exclusive contract with BayCity Communications Limited to be the exclusive National Service Operator (NSO) for IPSTAR services throughout New Zealand.
Within the scope of the NSO contract, BayCity Communications is responsible for the wholesale supply of all IPSTAR products and services, including broadband internet access, bandwidth, user terminals and other valued added services such as Voice over Internet Protocol (VoiP), VDO, and IPTV etc. IPSTAR New Zealand continues to operate the IPSTAR gateway in Auckland.
